How to Measure Kitchen Hoods

Space Between Cabinets

Measure the space between your cabinets. If you do not have cabinets and do not plan to have any, measure the total wall space. This measurement determines the maximum width kitchen hood that will fit your space.

Cooktop Width

Measure the width of your cook top. Your kitchen hood should be at least as wide as your cook top and can be wider depending on the amount of free wall space.

Ceiling Height

Measure from the floor to the start of your ceiling. This measurement is used to determine the size of accessories such as overhood cladding or crown moldings.

Venting Information (Optional)

Determine your brand and model of vent unit and if venting will exit through the ceiling or through the wall. If you have not selected a vent unit we would be happy to make some recommendations.
